Homberg Farm

We are a small scale, family run farm in Baltimore County. Our on-farm produce stand is open June through October and is fully stocked with only the highest quality local produce. We grow a wide variety of seasonal produce year round to supply our produce stand as well as local restaurants. In addition to produce, we supply a few varieties of microgreens year round.

In the Summer of 2014, we first opened our produce stand. Farmer Cory Schuch, then 19 years old decided to pursue his dream of farming the land that has been in the family since 1907. The land had sat idle for many years, but is now back in production to grow Many of the fruits and vegetables that we sell. Because the farm has been in our family for over 100 years, we have a deep connection to the land and we strive to be as sustainable as possible. We make every effort to grow our produce as naturally as possible and we avoid using pesticides and commercial fertilizer. One way we achieve this is by planting specific cover crops that can be utilized as green manure. These cover crops replenish nutrients in the soil, add organic matter, and provide year-round habitat for beneficial insects. They also prevent soil erosion during the winter when fields would typically be bare. We take agricultural stewardship very seriously and do everything we can to sustain the land that sustains us.

In 2018, we began supplying restaurants and in 2021. we began farming on new land on the Eastern Shore. This new farm, located in Preston. Md. allowed us to increase our production in order to keep up with demand. We then repurposed some of our fields in Middle River to offer Pick-Your-Own Strawberries and Pumpkins. We are excited about our expansion and look forward to growing with our community in the years to come.
